Campowerment Retreat - Now open to Rangers with new reduced event cost!
This is a weekend tent camp for West Coast Area Guiders, Rangers, Links and TMBR's at the Outdoor Education Centre Campground at Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park, Maple Ridge. Wake up to spectacular views of the lake with the mountains all around. 5 camp skills sessions will be offered on Saturday capped by a rousing campfire. Optional out trips are offered for Sunday, at no additional cost. Choose from: a 5 hour guided voyager canoe trip on the lake (free for first 30 to sign up), a mountain hike on the Menzies trail, Geocaching Adventure or Circle Farm Tour (carpools will be necessary). Come be inspired, learn new skills and reconnect to the outdoors! All levels of camp skills welcome. Whether you are just beginning or are a seasoned camper, there is something for everyone! Base fee is $75.00 which includes site fee, meals, 5 skill sessions, campfire if allowed, and Sunday Out Trip. Saturday only costs are $50. Sunday out trip only is free for (for Voyager Canoe only first 30 participants free), with first consideration given to full weekend participants. Special event crest will be distributed at camp, as well as a mini usb rechargeable flashlight, with a carabiner to attach to your backpack . . . because you light the way for girls to get outside!

MEC Club Night - Thur, Oct 5th 7 to 9 pm
Mountain Equipment Co-op is hosting another Club Night October 5th that is open to all members of the Scouting and Guiding community in the Vancouver Lower Mainland including Guiders, girls & their parents. During the Club Night, MEC will also be providing info sessions on equipment including how to choose the right hiking boot and pack, details in layering and many more. This would be a great opportunity for a unit to learn more about outdoor gear or purchase items for the upcoming year. We'd love to see the GGC members make use of this opportunity and attend in Guiding uniform/clothing! Receive 10% off all regular priced items purchased that evening – including bikes and boats! Let's Camp S'more - Oct 20th to 22nd at Camp Olave
The Let's Camp S'more program objective is to introduce and teach basic camping skills to newer guides and their guiders, to help to motivate them to want to camp in tents, and to increase their interest to camp more often while having fun in a camping environment. Basic camping skills include activities such as outdoor cooking, fire building, tent care, shelter and tarp erecting, trail marking, dish washing, basic compass, bedroll and gear packing, outdoor dressing, kit list developing, and running Guides Own.
Who: Patrols of six 1st & 2nd yr Guides and 1 Guider
Cost: $630 per patrol (Please make cheques out to "GGC - West Coast Area".)
Forms: Info Sheet/ Application Form (Registration deadline Oct 10th!)

Registration will be done on a first come first served basis, but only 1 to 2 per patrols from an individual unit may be allowed to allow for representation from the whole area. The camp registrar will email Safe Guide forms to accepted patrols.
